Background
Matthew has been self-employed since 1995, in roles from freelance consultant to business owner. For many years he has worked as an independent strategist with organisations including Google, Accenture, Innocent, LEGO, and Klarna, alongside running projects that support freelancers and businesses who work with freelancers, through The Independency Co.
That mix of client work and community work enables him to understand both sides of the relationship: how independent people work well, and how teams get the best from collaboration with independents.
Leapers
Matthew is the founder of Leapers, an award-winning project focused on the mental health of freelancers and the self-employed. Since 2017, Leapers has supported over 250,000 people through research, resources, community, and advocacy.
