Emma Jones, the Small Business Commissioner explains "The first reading of the [late payments] Bill is expected to happen sometime next week. This means the Bill will be introduced in the House of Lords and then the passage through Parliament begins. It is difficult to be precise on a date by which the Bill becomes law but if there are few complications, the Commercial Payments Bill (as it is expected to be called) could come into legal effect as soon as July 2027."
