Everything you need to know about Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment, and how it affects you as a freelancer.

TL;DR

Making Tax Digital is a major overhaul of how sole traders and landlords need to report their income to HMRC.

If you made over £50,000 turnover in your last tax return, you probably need to register for MTD ITSA, and report your income and expenses quarterly using approved digital tools, in addition to your final tax return in January.
